Information
Our aim in both community spaces is to have a healthy balance between people and our wildlife. We plants flowers and hedgerows, trees and allow weeds to grow providing food and shelter offering a natural harmony for for our wildlife which brings many butterflies to our gardens. We can enjoy observing them as they go about their daily lives dancing , fluttering from plant to plant and catching the warmth of the sun as they rest, such delicate beauty can bring much pleasure to many as well as keeping our natural environment balanced.
Butterflies
We are pleased to see many different insects, beetles, birds, small mammals, frogs and toads visit and make homes in our gardens, below are a few pics of butterflies we have had the pleasure of seeing late summer in Selby Meadow.

Peacock Butterfly
The Peacock is one of the most conspicuous European butterflies, impossible to confuse with any other.

P. Aegeria Tircis
This butterfly has a slow fluttering flight and is commonly found in shady areas with dappled light such as woodland edges and forests

Red Admiral
The Red Admiral is unmistakable , with it's red-and-black wings outspread. A visitor to gardens and parklands, it is attracted to various flowers and when in season ripe fruit.
